Anyway: A Designer’s Honest Review of This Fresh Script Font

I had that familiar moment again. A blank brand board in front of me, a new project in mind—this time, a visual refresh for a small, independent bakery. They wanted something that felt handcrafted and welcoming, yet modern enough to stand out online. My usual font library felt either too stiff or too whimsical. I needed something fresh. That’s when I downloaded and installed Anyway.

The First Impression: Beautifully Balanced Script

Opening a new document and typing the bakery’s name in Anyway was an immediate shift. This isn’t a wild, overly decorative script. It’s a fresh and beautiful font with a controlled elegance. The letterforms are clean and flowing, with a consistent baseline that gives it a grounded feel. There’s a subtle bounce in the lowercase, but it’s restrained—more like a confident, natural handwriting than a frantic scribble. This balance is its core strength. It injects personality without sacrificing a sense of order, which is crucial for a logo. On that initial logo draft, Anyway looked professional yet approachable, exactly the vibe I was hunting for.

The mood is soft and optimistic. It leans into a modern romantic or casual chic aesthetic. It doesn’t scream “wedding” (though it would work beautifully for invitations), nor does it feel overly juvenile. For the bakery, it evoked the care of handmade pastries without looking rustic or dated.

Testing Anyway Across a Real Brand Identity

From that single logo concept, I expanded into a full brand board. I tested Anyway on every touchpoint I could mock up.

Logo & Wordmarks: As a standalone logo font, Anyway performs exceptionally well for short names or phrases. The connected script style creates a cohesive unit. I tried it on the bakery’s name and a tagline like “Handcrafted Daily.” Both held weight. For a secondary logo or a monogram, the clean capitals provide a solid anchor.

Packaging & Labels: Placing it on a pastry box mockup was a revelation. The font’s beauty shines on product labels and packaging. It feels premium but not alienating. On a simple, clean background, Anyway becomes the star, conveying quality. It’s excellent for short ingredient lists, product names, or a small “thank you” note.

Digital Presence: In the website header, Anyway added a distinct personality to the hero section. For social media graphics—Instagram post templates announcing new seasonal items—it created instant visual consistency. It’s a display font, so I used it sparingly for key headlines or captions, and it made those elements pop against more neutral body text.

Print Collateral: Business cards and small flyers (“Flayer” as mentioned in the description) are another strong suit. Printed on a textured card stock, Anyway looked elegant and tactile. It gives small-scale print a bespoke feel.

Where Anyway Thrives and Where It Hesitates

After this testing, it’s clear Anyway is best used as a display font. Its purpose is for headlines, logos, accent text, and decorative short phrases. It’s a fantastic primary brand font for identity systems where you want a script to lead the visual language.

Readability is good at medium to large sizes, but it’s not designed for long body text. I wouldn’t set a full menu or a lengthy website paragraph in Anyway. That’s not a flaw; it’s a design decision. For body copy, you’ll need a pairing.

Font pairing is straightforward. Anyway’s soft script character pairs beautifully with a simple, geometric sans-serif for a clean, modern contrast. For a warmer, more editorial feel, a classic serif works well. The key is to let Anyway be the personality driver and use its partner for clarity and structure in longer text.

Projects requiring extreme formal corporate rigidity or dense informational layouts (financial reports, lengthy manuals) would not be suitable. This font is for brands that want to express warmth, creativity, craftsmanship, or a personal touch.

Practical Guidance for Using Anyway

Before committing Anyway to final client work, test it exhaustively. Print a sample at the actual size you intend to use. View it on different device screens. How does it look on a dark background? Does it retain its character on a mobile screen? For the bakery project, I mocked up a shop window sign. At a larger scale, Anyway’s graceful curves were perfectly legible and charming.

Always, always check the commercial licensing for any font. Understand the terms for using it in client branding, packaging, web fonts, or merchandise. This ensures your professional work is fully covered and avoids future complications. The product description hints at business use (“By using this font your busine…”), but confirming the specifics is a non-negotiable step.

A Fresh Tool for Modern Branding Needs

In the end, Anyway became the cornerstone of that bakery’s refresh. It provided a unique but reliable voice across their identity. For designers, it’s a versatile addition to your script font toolkit. It fills a specific niche: a beautiful, readable script that feels contemporary, not nostalgic. It’s for the boutique identity, the creative studio logo, the skincare product label, the handmade shop branding—any project where personality needs to be conveyed with a touch of refined grace.

It won’t solve every typographic need, but for the purposes it’s designed for—YouTube banners, logo mockups, invitations, cards, crafts, and commercial design assets where a fresh, beautiful accent is key—Anyway delivers with quiet confidence. Just open a blank document, type your idea in it, and see where that fresh feeling takes your design.
